DAILY OBLATION
WEEK 1: FRIDAY
Jesus Christ, our Lord and our God, out of love for your Father and for humanity you have called us to a life of service. You have chosen us and united us to yourself like branches on a vine so that our works might bear fruit, abundant fruit that lasts forever.
In the spirit of Leo John Dehon, we offer ourselves to repair a broken world and restore all things in you. Make us living witnesses to your love in the Church, which was born from your pierced side as you hung upon the cross, opening the way to truth and life for us. Amen.

Encourage each other ndaily while it is still today (Hebrews 3:13)
Come, let us sing to the Lord
and shout with joy to the Rock who saves us.

and sing joyful songs to the Lord.

Lord, whose love in humble service
bore the weight of human need,

O God, have mercy on me
Your inmost being must be renewed, and you must put on the new man (Ephesians 4:23-24).
Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness. *

Psalm Prayer: Father, he who knew no sin was made sin for us, to save us and restore us to your friendship. Look upon our contrite heart and afflicted spirit and heal our troubled conscience, so that in the joy and strength of the Holy Spirit we may proclaim your praise and glory before all the nations.

People of all nations will become disciples of the Lord

The Lord calls his ransomed people to sing songs of victory (Saint Athanasius).

READING – Ephesians 4:29-32
Never let evil talk pass your lips; say only the good things men need to hear, things that will really help them. Do nothing that will sadden the Holy Spirit with whom you were sealed against the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, all passion and anger, harsh words, slander, and malice of every kind. In place of these, be kind to one another, compassionate, and mutually forgiving, just as God has forgiven you in Christ.

Luke 1:68-79
The Messiah and his forerunner
Blessed + be the Lord, the God of Israel; *
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior, *
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old †
that he would save us from our enemies, *
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers *
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham: *
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
free to worship him without fear, *
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High; *
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
to give his people knowledge of salvation *
by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God *
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, *
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

INTERCESSIONS
Through his cross the Lord Jesus brought salvation to the human race. We adore him and in faith we call out to him:
Lord, pour out your mercy upon us.
Christ, Rising Sun, warm us with your rays,
– and restrain us from every evil impulse.
Keep guard over our thoughts, words and actions,
– and make us pleasing in your sight this day.
Turn your gaze from our sinfulness,
– and cleanse us from our iniquities.
Through your cross and resurrection,
– fill us with the consolation of the Spirit.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
(Let us again offer our praise to God and pray in the words of Christ:)
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
CONCLUDING PRAYER
God our Father,
you conquer the darkness of ignorance
by the light of your Word.
Strengthen within our hearts
the faith you have given us;
let not temptation ever quench the fire
that your love has kindled within us.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

DISMISSAL
If a priest or deacon presides, he dismisses the people:
